Dine With History at the Wayside Inn -- Middletown, Virginia -- Some of the most interesting dining experiences happen by chance. One Saturday we were in the Shenandoah Valley looking for a place to eat lunch. Fast food, of course, was an option, but we always like to dine at local, unique restaurants if we can. Then I saw a sign that said Wayside Inn.
Dine and Relax in Style at the Cotton Gin -- Fredericksburg, Texas -- My husband and I were quite pleased with the menu selections, which featured everything from escargot to pan-fried catfish. The wine list is extensive, with over 60 wines, and it included wines from the surrounding Texas Hill Country. The Toasted Pecan Crusted Breast of Chicken comes with a luscious Creole mustard cream sauce, and there are plenty of choices when it comes to Texas-sized steaks.
Treat Yourself to Guru Restaurant's Authentic Indian Cuisine -- Fredericksburg, Virginia -- My husband and I are now regulars at Guru Restaurant, where we treat ourselves to Tandoori Chicken, Butter Chicken, Naan, as well as a variety of vegetarian dishes with lentils and potatoes.
When You Visit Isla Cozumel, Come Hungry! -- Isla Cozumel, Mexico -- When I travel, I like to search out restaurants -especially ones that are nothing like the estaurants back home. While Cozumel does have rsome of those familiar chains, it has a good sampling of local eateries as well. Actually, one of the best ways to really experience a different culture is to get a close-up and personal taste of its cuisine.
Savor Local Delicacies -- Old Salem, North Carolina -- You'll really get to enjoy the Old Salem experience if you dine at the Old Salem Tavern. Here, we enjoyed an old-fashioned tavern atmosphere as costumed wait staff served us a variety of foods. Despite the name, I ordered the Carolina Seafood Muddle and found it to be absolutely delicious-like a French Bouillabaisse. My husband thought the Moravian Chicken Pie was top-notch. Both us thought about the Jamaican Pork Rub, but were pleased with our decisions.
Going to the Outer Banks, N.C.? Then Savor the Food at the Black Pelican -- Kitty Hawk, North Carolina -- While the Black Pelican offers a variety of foods, I zeroed in on the seafood. (This is the Outer Banks!) With selections such as Baked Shrimp and Crab, Blackened Tuna Nagano and Fried Fluke and Shrimp, you might want to do the same. For an appetizer, I was surprised to find a good Pad Thai here. And the foccacia bread was delicious. For wine, we had the Black Pelican Station Keeper's Stock, a very pleasant Chardonnay.
Dining at Joe Fortes Makes You Feel Like a Star -- Vancouver, British Columbia -- Walk into this trendy Vancouver watering hole and you'll receive a star-worthy welcome yourself. The entire staff, who regularly play host to the sports and entertainment celebrities, will deliver first-class, personalized service to you as you sip the world's best beverages and savor an array of outstanding cuisine, and enjoy service that that will make you feel like a star.
Enjoy the taste of Vietnam in Virginia -- Fredericksburg, Virginia -- Shortly after we moved here, Pho Sàigòn Restaurant, the first Vietnamese restaurant in the Fredericksburg area opened up. Now, with the cuisine of Vietnam available to us, we were truly happy. We still have to drive a way to enjoy it because it's on the other side of the county for us, but, every time we go, we always agree that it's worth the drive.
A Winery, a Restaurant and a Brewery: Tasting Your Way through Washington -- Woodinville, Washington -- This area is home to three very popular and favorite places for visitors looking for high-class experiences. I invite you to join me on a tour. Let me begin with Washington's largest and most well known winery.
Pufferbelly on a Roll -- Kent, Ohio -- Tom Roehl spent many years with Stouffer's Restaurants; George Lewis is a retired architect. For the past two decades, Roehl and Lewis have pooled their talents, turning old buildings into fine dining establishments. Their efforts are much appreciated by diners in northeast Ohio.
Steakhouse is More than Just Meat and Potatoes! -- New York, NY -- If you really want to enjoy your dining experience in a steakhouse then you must really know how a good steak tastes like. Yes, there are steakhouses all over, but if you really want to enjoy your food and have a memorable dining experience then you have to search for the perfect place.
Vancouver Restaurants -- Vancouver is the largest city in Western Canada, and third largest in Canada. Located at the southwestern corner of the coastal province of British Columbia. It is well known for its majestic natural beauty, as it is nestled between the coastal mountains and the Pacific ocean. It is frequently ranked as one of the "best cities to live in" and is certainly a beautiful destination to visit.
